Ingredients:
1 cup basmati rice (washed)
3 big tomatoes, chopped
1 medium onion, thinly sliced
3 green chillies (cut into long pieces)
2 tbsp. oil or ghee
1/2 tsp. mustard seeds
1 tsp. cumin seeds
1 tbsp. cashew nuts
1/2 tsp. turmeric powder
2 bay leaves
1 cardamom pods
2 cloves
1 cinnamon stick, broken
1 tbsp. ginger-garlic paste
1-2 tsp. red chilli powder
1 tbsp. chopped coriander leaves |
Method:
Heat oil in a sauce pan. Add mustard seeds,
cumin seeds, when it pops, add
cashews, turmeric,
bay leaves, cardamom, cloves
and cinnamon.
Fry till lightly browned.
Add ginger-garlic paste, green
chillies,
onions, tomatoes and fry until
soft.
Add washed rice, red chilli powder, salt,
coriander leaves and fry for
2 minutes. Remove from the heat.
Put this fried mixture in the
rice cooker
container. Add 2 cups water, cover the cooker and let
the rice cook.
Serve hot with Raita. |
