Ingredients:
4 cups thin poha (avalakki)
1 tsp. mustard seeds
1 cup peanuts
1/4 cup cashewnuts
1/2 cup whole split peas (hurgadle / puttani)
1/4 cup copra pieces (kobbari)
5-6 red chillies, crushed
1 tsp. red chilli powder
1 tbsp. sugar
10-12 curry leaves
1 tsp. turmeric powder
1/2 tsp. asafoetida
Salt to tate
2-3 tbsp. oil
Method:
First heat the frying pan, add poha and fry
on low heat till
it becomes crispy.
Set aside.
Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, after
it splutters, add
peanuts, cashews
and
fry till it becomes light brown, then add red
chillies, split peas,
coconut pieces and fry for a while.
Add curry leaves,
turmeric powder,
chilli
powder, asafoetida,
sugar, salt and mix well for 2 minutes.
Remove from the heat.Then add the poha to it and mix well.
Store in an airtight
container when cool.
