Ingredients:
4 cups puffed rice (mamra)
2 tbsp. oil
2 tsp. mustard seeds
1/2 tsp. turmeric powder
1/2 tsp. asafoetida
4-5 red chillies, crushed
8-10 curry leaves
3/4 cup peanuts
1/2 cup whole split peas (hurgadle/puttani)
3/4 cup copra pieces (kobbari)
Salt to taste
Method:
Heat oil in a frying pan, add mustard seeds,
turmeric and asafoetida
until they start
crackling.
Add red chillies,
curry leaves, peanuts
and
fry for 2-3 minutes.
Then add split peas, coconut pieces and fry for 2 minutes. Add salt, puffed rice and mix well for 5
minutes.
Store in an airtight container when cool.
